Welcome to First Grade!
HAPPY SUMMER BREAK!
Prevent the summer slide! Please see the tips below to help your child stay on track during summer break.
-Please continue to read with your child daily! This is so important!
-You will continue to have access through CMS student portal for RAZ Kids which is great for working on reading comprehension. Another way to stay on track with Reading Comprehension is to participate in our Rocky's Readers Summer Reading Incentive Program. Scholars that participate will get to have fun at a reading celebration at the beginning of next school year! YAY!
-Have your child write about his/her summer adventures in a journal. Your child should write 5+ sentences about each adventure.
-Practice addition and subtraction flash cards. Log in to Dreambox through their app or through CMS Student Portal. Your child can also work on the extra math workbook pages sent home. These are a great way to keep math skills fresh.
-A summer workbook is very helpful. You can purchase these at the Dollar Store, Target, or Walmart. I have used the Brain Quest Summer workbooks with my own children during the summer.
-Please don't forget to stop by the University or Hickory Grove Libraries this summer to check out new books! The Library also has a reading incentive program.
-Of course, enjoy the summer and get outdoors! Relax and recharge! Stop by to say hello next school year! :)
